BUNTS' SANGHA AHMEDABAD, GUJARAT ®
Bunts’ Sangha Ahmedabad, was started in the festive season of October 1993. It was started by a band of Bunt Gentlemen, with a view and idea of integrating the bunt community people residing in Ahmedabad. With that firm determination, they marched ahead with whatever time and resources they had (remember it was the early 90’s with limited email and mobile) in hand. Today in its 30th year, with a unending, sincere and warm support by all its members , Bunts Sangha Ahmedabad is a thriving social organization, working relentlessly towards community betterment , helping local communities, and making our next generation (who are 1500 kms away from Tulunadu) well acquainted with the great values and our traditions and instilling a pride of being born as a Bunt
In Ahmedabad a good number of Bunts settled since 1950s doing service and hotel business. More more Bunts families from Dakshina Kannada District started to settle in Ahmedabad. They became the integral part of Karnataka Sangha. The only meeting point for them was Karnataka Sangha till 1993. As Vijaya bank branches began to expand in Ahmedabad, it brought lot of Bunts Staff to Ahmedabad. With the bunt population increasing in the city, everyone felt the need of forming Bunts Sangha and the idea of Bunts Sangha was born.
Some few prominent Bunts joined hands and met Bunt families in the city with the idea of Bunts Sangha and they got a very positive encouragement from all. The inauguration of the Bunts Sangha was done by Shri S M Shetty, by lighting of the lamp to a packed audience in Gajjar Hall Ahmedabad.
From that point onwards it has been an incredible journey for the Sangha. The membership drive was taken very agressively , with Sangha Commitee members working very hard, by travelling weekends (and evening of weekdays) across the city in spite of their busy schedules – to meet all the Bunts families and make them part of the Sangha. With such dedication and awesome team work , the Sangha within a few months of formation was prospering with healthy membership of Bunts Families

Sangha started conducting various social gathering events like day long Picnic, Tulu dramas, Annual Satyanarayan Pooje , Sports Day and Annual Day Gatherings followed by dinner. These events were very received and got a overwhelming response from the members – which continues even till this date.
To keep the functioning of any organization well oiled, it surely needs monetory assistance. For most part , even today, the Sangha Commitee and general members voluntary contribute to any activities of the Sangha. But Sangha is fortunate, to get funds from some generous donors who donated with all the good wishes to the Sangha to continue doing great work and community service
With a expanding, healthy and growing Sangha, with more members joining in, there was a need for a office space. It was a challenging project but the community took it on. In 1998, Bunts Sangha Ahmedabad purchased it’s new office space in the affluent Paldi area. It was a proud moment for all the members, with now a space for conducting meetings, hosting visiting guests and for various social gatherings
Subsequently as time passed by, Sangha continued to grow, with dedicated team of new elected committee members every two years coming up with fresh ideas , and is now organizing annual events, like Satyanarayan Pooje, Ugadi celebrations , Janmashtami and Navratri Bhajans, Aati da Oota, Diwali Gatherings, Annual, Day long Picnic, Sports day , Tulu Dramas and Tulu standups program with an intention of spreading our culture to our younger generation and also bring people of our community together and have constant and positive engagement
Our Annual program day cultural event is having very active participation from all our community members across all age groups and is highly appreciated by every guest who has attended the event.
The 25th year celebration was a grand day long event with various programs spanning across cultural events, interesting discussions and Tulu drama, which was Live broadcast on YouTube
Sangha honors bright students in every Annual event which is a good motivation to the student. Also extra curricular activities by our kids are appreciated and honored. The Sangha honors the senior most member in the Annual event. Bunts Sangha is also actively involved in helping our community members, to the best of the abilities, when somebody needs help. Has helped families in getting Marriages done, Helped people in medical emergencies, Provided financial assistance to families in dire needs. Bunts Sangha also makes sure that we do community service to the local people and as part of this initiative, has provided free books and other stationary to local schools and helped in providing employment to deserving local people.
With 99% community people in Ahmedabad as registered members, a active participation of youths , vibrant and a ever increasing list of events that recreates the flavor of Dakshina Kannada , 1500 kms away in Ahmedabad, with ambitious grand projects in pipeline, Bunts Sangha Ahmedabad is growing and prospering leap and bounds.
With blessings of elders and wishes and energy of the young the Sangha will have many glories days to come. The Sangha is on the rise with immense potential and roaring energy
